Rashid Settaala
Director of Programs

With more than 15 years of experience in global healthcare supply chain project design and management, strategic advice and technical assistance, he currently oversees all Medical Access programs and ensures smooth running of program operations and related evaluation and reporting. In addition, he also serves as the Principal Investigator for the Procurement and Supply Chain Strengthening Project (PSSP), which is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to support supply chain management of HIV drugs and commodities for the private sector in Uganda.

Rashid began his career at Medical Access in 2009 as a Technical Advisor, where he was responsible for development of organizational capability in the supply of non-pharmaceutical products, distribution, procurement and health system strengthening.

He began his professional career in the private sector as a Medical Representative and then General Manager (Business Development) for Goodman International Ltd and as Territory Manager for Warner Lambert Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Pfizer CHC. In these roles, Rashid conducted several product launches for Kaletra by Abbott Laboratories, Mephaquin by Mepha Pharmaceuticals and Lipitor by Pfizer Pharma, among others. He later went on to join Axios International, a global healthcare consulting company, as a Program Manager. During his time at Axios, he led several projects, including the Global Fund’s Country Partnership Assessment study in Ethiopia, streamlining of laboratory reagents and kits supply chain management of USAID-funded projects in Nigeria and the design and implementation of an evaluation of drug access programs in 15 countries across the globe.

Rashid was first trained in dentistry and obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Makerere University (Kampala, Uganda) and is a member of the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Makerere University.
